Art Deco Sterling Compact Elgin

Offered is a lovely vintage sterling silver powder compact. It bears the hallmark of Elgin American and is marked sterling as shown. This measures 2 3/4″ x 2 1/4″ and is 1/4″ thick. It has a clear framed mirror in the interior cover and a hinged panel over the powder area. The decoration on the front features a raised gilded hand chased scroll pattern against a satin background. Vertical lined panels separate these sections. There are some small scratch marks in the silver portions as shown, the gold decoration is unblemished. The back is not decorated and is smooth and shiny. The mechanical workings are all functioning appropriately. Total weight: 92.9 grams
