1950s Basketball Tie Clasp Ft. Bliss

Offered is a most interesting men’s jewelry 1950s basketball tie clasp. Of a mid century modern design, this includes a  dangle that is engraved Ft Bliss (army base in Texas) ’53 Runner Up. Likely a tournament souvenir, this portion could be removed and used as a pendant as well. The ball is unmarked but a touch stone test indicated it to be sterling silver. The tie bar is of silver colored metal (not sterling) and hallmarked Anson as shown. It measures a bit over 2.5″ across. The heavy ball is 5/8″ in diameter. This is in very good condition with no damage found.
