Austria-Hungary 835 Sterling Compact c1920s

Offered is a stunning antique Austria-Hungary 835 sterling compact.  The front cover has sections with the classic Rococo chased design with other areas having a fine Art Deco style ribbed pattern at different angles. The back has the vertical ribbed motif.  This measures about 3 1/8″ in diameter and is 3/8″ thick.  The beaded edge is on both the front and back components.

This is hallmarked on the underside of the tabs as illustrated.  One is the dog stamp used from 1867-1922, and the maker’s mark KG.  The number 3 indicates the 835 silver standard, and the letter P is for the city of Pest (later Budapest) as the origin. Though the country became two separate entities in 1919, the mark continued to be used until 1922.  The design elements suggest this is from the latter years, yet still 100 years old.

The puff, screen, and powder are still present.  The beveled mirror has some dark spots as illustrated with the ball point pen for reference.  There are no other dents, dings, or condition issues.
