Antique Wood Toy Building Set Victorian Era

Offered is an antique wood toy building set from the  Victorian era. It is contained in a wooden box with a paper graphic applied to the slide on lid. The words describing the suspension bridge kit are in in English, French, and German with Made in Germany at the top portion. The name of the apparent retailer is stamped on the back of the cover.

Though not simply blocks, this  is an older children’s toy featuring the famous Chain Bridge ( Die KettenBrucks ) opened in 1849 to join the cities of Buda and Pest in Hungary. The set includes the precut wood pieces, old American cloth flags, metal components and chain as illustrated. There is an old paper that gives a visual indication of how the toy is assembled. A wooden mallet is also included to assist in construction. The box measures 13.25″ x 8,25″ and is 4.5″ high and weighs approximately six pounds.

The exterior shows wear as illustrated. One piece of wood has a chip in the corner as shown, but would not affect construction of the model bridge. This is offered as described and shown in the photos provided.
