Majolica Plates Georg Schmider Birds Grapes
Offered are two vintage German majolica plates. The raised design features birds and berries, or often referred to as birds and grapes. The pattern is number 230 offered by Georg Schmilder (G.S. Zell) beginning in the early 20th century. These dishes have a decorative edge, and measure approximately 9 1/4″ in diameter. The hand decorated surfaces vary a bit in color. More commonly found with a blue background, these have a creamy white color in the traditional style. Neither piece has a backstamp, but are marked with an impressed S. One also has the impressed pattern number. One plate was glazed on the ring foot on the reverse side. There are nicks in the glaze consistent with contact with a table or shelf over time. The other dish was not glazed in that area, and remains unblemished.
These have no other condition issues. Both plates are included for one price.,
