Art Nouveau Sterling Silver Mechanical Sash Belt Buckle

Offered is a lovely antique Art Nouveau sterling silver buckle.  Used on a sash style belt, it was a popular item in Victorian times as well. This has a smoothly operating mechanical closure.  Oval in shape, the solid frame has a gently curved shape with a raised baroque type surface design. This measures 2 1/4″ x 1 1/2″ at the widest points on the outside edge.  The opening is 1 5/8″ x 1″ as viewed from the top.  It is marked as shown on the reverse side with a model number 973, sterling, and another unidentified maker’s hallmark.  The buckle has no condition issues.  Total weight:  15.1 grams
