Yngvar O. Kristiansen Modernist Sterling Designer Necklace Viking

Offered is a stunning sterling necklace by Yngvar O. Kristiansen, modernist designer from Tromoso. Norway. Research indicates the master goldsmith and jewelry maker was active from the early 1960s until his death in 1978.  All jewelry was handmade, and issued in a limited series.  From the Viking series, this is composed of three discs attached by solid link chains.  Each of the lightly etched and hammered circular elements have a bezel set cabochon of iolite ( gem quality cordierite) stones.  The gemstone was used in Viking navigation and is an apt addition to the design.

The necklace measures 17 1/4″ long. The central circular element is 1″ in diameter, and the two small ones are a bit over 3/4″.  These are marked on the reverse side YOK, 925, and Viking as shown.  The sturdy spring ring clasp is marked 925.  The jewelry has no condition issues.  Total weight:  23.1 grams
