Ione Tissot Sterling Rooster Brooch 960 Silver Taxco Mexico

Offered is a charming Ione Tissot sterling rooster brooch.  It is stamped with her name and with the silver metal content mark of 960.  Bird pin is built on a solid foundation with applied elements on the front.  The chest and comb portions have a stippled texture while the rest of the surfaces are smooth and shiny. The hand crafted pin is 2 1/8″ high, and 1 3/8″ across the widest point.

Though there is not much of a web presence found for this designer, other examples of  her work have been stamped with various Mexico, or Taxco registry hallmarks.  She is the daughter of ceramicist Felix Tissot, who came from France, became a naturalized US citizen in California, and moved to Taxco Mexico in 1956.  A portion of what information was found can be seen here, but the latest update was posted in 2011:  https://myvintagetaxcosilver.blogspot.com/2011/01/tissot-taxco-designer.html
