Antique Celluloid Bead Necklace Refurbished

Offered is an antique celluloid bead necklace. It is a continuous strand (no clasp) that measures approximately 32″ long.  Each of the round components are about 5/8″ in diameter. The material was invented in the latter half of the 1800s, and was often called French Ivory for the similar visible surface striations.  The the delicate substance was rather volatile, and easily subject to damage. It is uncommon to find a jewelry necklace at all, much less one in this condition.

These beads have been restrung and knotted on new silk.  Some appear darker or lighter than the others.  Though not easily noticed, some have small colored spots that can be viewed in the first and second photos.  Again, this is not perfect but is now strong, sturdy, and ready to wear.
