Frankart Parrot Bookend Art Deco

Offered is a delightful Art Deco era Frankart parrot bookend.  Designed by the sculptor Arthur von Frankenberg (1898-1992).   It was offered by the New York firm Frankart, Inc. founded in the early 1920s. This measures 6 3/4″ to the top of the arch, and 4 1/2″ x 3 1/2″.  Though often incorrectly advertised as being bronze or a brass sculpture, this casting is made of heavy spelter and then sprayed with color. The original intention was to make  art affordable to the masses.  There is an embossed mark on the reverse side Frankart, Inc. and Patent Applied For.

The item is strong, sturdy, and weighs 1 lb. 14.8 oz. unpacked. There are no dents or dings, but some expected wear to the silver finish as shown.
