Los Castillo Silver Hair Ornament Taxco c 1950s

Offered is a most unusual Los Castillo silver hair ornament.  Used to hold a chignon, bun, or pony tail, this bears the circular hallmarks and Eagle 15 stamp used from 1948 – 1955. The curved portion is decorated with semi precious stones held in place by peculiar pointed prongs.  This is 2″ wide across the center, and 2 1/2″ from end to end.  The stick or spike that holds the hair clip in place  is attached with a safety chain and measures 4 1/2″ long.  The clip tested sterling, the stick did not. The hair jewelry has no condition issues.  Total weight without the stick:  45.4 grams
