Original Photo Anthony Provenzano Tony Pro Barnes Beardemphl

Offered is an original vintage photo of Anthony Provenzano (1917-1988).  Known as Tony Pro, he was an American mobster, a copo in the Genovese crime family. He had known associations with Jimmy Hoffa through the Teamsters’ Union. This black and white photograph measures 8″ x 10″.  It is marked on the backside Doris M. (Mae) Barnes and Betty J. Beardemphl, both noted women photographers in the N. Miami area.  Their work helped chronicle in pictures, celebrities and events related to sports fishing in the area.

From a collection purchased at a S. Florida auction about 20 years ago, this is believed to be from the 1970s before Mr. Provenzano was sentenced to prison.  He resided in the community of Hallandale, Florida in the S. Broward, N. Dade county area near Baker’s Haulover.  The subject matter is a fanciful depiction of  typical “catch of the day” photos that serve to show off large trophy game fish.   Note there is a crease on the right upper corner shown in the photo with a pencil for reference.  There are no other defects.
