Photos Documents Bottle House Tampa 1930s

Offered is a collection of original photos and documents related to the bottle house built in Tampa, Florida in the 1930s. The Florida home was constructed of glass bottles, cement, and other material outlined and defined in the document written by the creator’s (Thad Clark) sister Marie.  Situated on the shore of Lake Magdalene, the building on Clark Road was subsequently destroyed to make way for new construction.

Thad Clark, coming from Georgia, once traded an automobile for the 40 acre tract around the lake. We used to live in the house next door to the bottle house in the late 1970’s, and remember telling old Ms. Clark that it was not likely a good idea to shoot squirrels for dinner now that there were people and children in the neighborhood. The packet of information has been stored away for many years. Included is the document by Marie Clark outlining the construction of the place, a large photo of her in front of a collection of the bottles used for construction, and an original invoice for supplies. There are two interior photos of the house, and two taken outside. One of these includes a picture of Thad Clark in front of his masterpiece.

The documents are old, and not perfect, but offered as being of historical significance. This listing is offered as described and shown in the photos provided.
