Taxco Mexico Sterling Earrings Screw Back Serafin Moctezuma

Offered is a lovely vintage pair of Taxco Mexico sterling earrings.  The well crafted opposing pair feature a stylized flower design that includes a bezel set green stone cabochon at the top.  Each earring measures approximately 1 1/4″ high, and 7/8″ across the widest point.  One earring has the maker’s hallmark as shown, and the other is simply stamped Taxco.

Research indicates the former was used by Serafin Moctezuma who was a skilled designer and silversmith and  a contemporary of William Spratling.   There was some controversy between the two artisans regarding  similarities in both design and the conjoined initial marks used. Reflective of the popular styles and quality products produced in Taxco at the time, these sterling silver earrings have no condition issues.  Total weight:  8 grams
