Offered is a most unusual silver thimble. It has a finely decorated exterior that features a floral and leaf design in high relief. It is marked on the top 800 and with the initials KW as shown. There may also be a mark on the interior but it is not discernible.
Research indicates that the work resembles earlier repousse work of the German maker Karl Wieden, but corroborating evidence has not been found.
This sewing tool is still in round and has no pierced holes. It is in the excellent condition described and shown. Total weight: 4.8 grams
