Offered is an older Simons sterling thimble. The bottom rim and adjoining band has a scroll design that appears to be hand chased. There is no monogram, but in this section is is marked sterling and 9 as shown. The company’s hallmark is on the inside. This stands 7/8″ high. There are no pierced holes, but it is slightly out of round as illustrated. Still a lovely sewing tool, there are no other condition issues. Total weight: 4.4 grams

The bottom edge has a vertical ribbed decoration, while the band above has a raised design that favors Mideastern or Egyptian motifs. The plain band has no monogram, but is stamped with the numeral 9 and sterling as shown. The interior bears the hallmark of Simons Bros. as illustrated. The narrow section on either side of the wider flat pieces are decorated with hand chased designs. The sterling silver sewing tool has a patent date of May 23.89 and has the Simons Brothers Company in the interior. The study thimble is still in round, and has no pierced holes.
